Slowly, interest waned in using bananas to communicate as people found ringing fruit an annoyance rather than a delight. Replacement costs overburdened most people as guests would often accidentally eat their communicating bananas and cross talk from nearby plantains garbled messages. He moved on to other uses of his spare time.   MJC

While he had some success with voice transmissions, he found that strings often clogged the keys while trying to text.
